The article in question was linked by the Drudge Report:
And here is the end result of such linkage with numerous anti-gay and homophobic comments on the article, many of them directed at Ellen DeGeneres for being JCP spokesman (she is sometimes referred to as 'Ellen Degenerate' because of her sexual orientation), remember the article and Drudge's link has nothing to do with gays, homosexuality or Ellen:
"Drudge Report is a really good aggregator site," says Jose Soto, Editor in Chief of The Gay Report, "But I have two major problems with the site, which of course was the inspiration for The Gay Report, and that is that (Drudge) sometimes gets too political for the right wing side of things, instead of just aggregating the news and letting people decide on their own like how we do on The Gay Report, seems like Drudge is thinking for its readers, and that is not a good thing. And second, is of course the mindless homophobic readers. I mean who the hell is reading Drudge now? I been reading Drudge for so many years and I been noticing lately that some of the articles that deal with homosexuality and are linked to Drudge are getting huge amounts of homophobic and anti-gay comments. Again, who the hell is reading Drudge now? The American Family Association? The Westboro Baptist Church? I am again disappointed."
And as for this JCP article Soto had this to say: "Now this is new, the article had nothing to do with gays. Yet that didn't even stop the dumbest (Drudge) readers to find a gay slant and start bashing Ellen for being a lesbian and the whole gay community -- as if we asked for it. As if we asked JC Penney to parade us on their catalogs. Nothing wrong with doing that, is just these kinds of comments were not meant to JCP but were meant to the gay community, saying that 'you are all still disgusting to us.' I hope Drudge realizes how bad some of its readership has become, and it is not something to proud of. It would be like having a swollen cell of The Gay Report readers posting racist comments all over the net, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night."
